Mike Love's plan to continue touring under the name of The Beach Boys after the band's current reunion tour ends this week have been protested by the rest of his bandmates.

As reported on Gigwise, Love is planning to play live under the same name after The Beach Boys end their 50th anniersary tour in London on Friday (Sept 28).

However, the rest of the group oppose this motion with Al Jardine setting up a petition for fans to sign if they agree that Love should not be taking the course of action that he is pursuing. The petition currently has over four thousand online signatures.

Jardine's petition describes Love as putting together a "money-saving, stripped-down version" of the iconic 'Pet Sounds' band.

Brian Wilson, Al Jardine and David Marks will no longer tour with the band when they return to America after their London shows later in September 2012. This will leave Mike Love and Bruce Johnston performing alongside Love's son Christian, Randell Kirsch, Tim Bonhomme, John Cowsill and Scott Totten.

"As we move on, Bruce and I look forward to performing live for Beach Boys fans everywhere," says Mike Love in an official statement. "The 50th Reunion Tour was designed to be a set tour with a beginning and an end to mark a special 50-year milestone for the band."

Brian Wilson recently claimed he had no plans to quit touring with the band forever and hinted that he may return for more live shows in the future.
