Popular X Factor contestant Lucy Spraggan has revealed how she nearly died when she fell 40ft from a hotel roof.
The singer, who's observant self-written songs place her somewhere between Ed Sheeran and Victoria Wood on the musical spectrum, has spoken of cheating death when she fell during previous employment.
"I was working in demolition and I was 40ft high in the cherry picker removing some roof tiles from a hotel," she says in an interview with The Sun newspaper. "Then all of a sudden the machine collapsed and I went hurtling towards the floor at 120 miles an hour.
"I thought I was going to die. I was just rushing towards the ground. Just before the impact I lifted up my legs and that helped cushion the fall," she added. “But then I got covered in slates that fell on to my leg as it hit the ground.
"I broke my leg and I had really bad cuts in my arms — everyone thought I’d broken both arms. I tried to stand up but just collapsed and for some reason I started laughing out of shock."
Spraggan is said to still be seeking compensation for the accident, as she spent three months on crutches and still suffers pain from the accident over a year later. She also explains that she suffers from 'complex regional pain syndrome', leaving her in pain without any explanation as to why.
