New chart topper Psy has offered his thanks to UK fans after he became the first ever Korean star to score a No.1 single in Britain.
By becoming the first Korean in history to top the UK singles chart, Psy has sets his sight on taking the Korean K-Pop genre and transforming it into a global phenomenon.
'Gangnam Style' has already clocked up over 300 million views on YouTube and topped the iTunes chart in over 30 countries before this week reaching the summit of the UK singles chart. The track which is accompanied by a now infamous dance routine has seen the YouTube clip, which teaches people how to do the dance, break the world record for most likes on a video.
On hitting the top spot in the UK Psy said “Thanks to all the UK fans out there for supporting me and Gangnam Style.”
Psy will continue to try and make history by building on the success of his track around the world. With the song currently at No.2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 in the US and celebrity fans including Katy Perry and Tom Cruise, the South Korean who has just signed a management deal with Justin Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun, looks set to continue his success.
