Morrissey has turned his notoriously vicious tongue on The Killers, Russell Brand and even Facebook in his latest outspoken set of comments.
The iconic frontman of The Smiths was interviewed by the Herald Sun when talk turned to The Killers, who hero-worship Morrissey, and comedian Russell Brand who shares a similar affinity to Brandon Flowers and co.
However, Morrissey is not so keen, revealing how: "I find it difficult to be anything other than honest, and this makes me sound like an old crank. I can’t say ‘Yes’ when I mean ‘No’ – my jaw literally locks. The Killers asked me to sing with them this month in New York, but I’m just not the type. I stick to my own backyard. "
Meanwhile, Russell Brand's recent output at the movies has not passed Morrissey by either, as he says: "I love Russell, but the films are a bit cheeky-wonky-daft-Dudley Moore British-pottiness for me, and Russell’s voice has a higher pitch with each film – it’s almost a squeal now."
Finally, Morrissey turned his eye to social media, labelling Facebook as 'the essece of loneliness'.
"I know nothing about Twitter, and I can only roughly assess Facebook. Twitter seems useful in some ways because you are no longer at the mercy of press interpretation, but Facebook is too self-gratifying. You might think you have 900 friends, but it’s an illusion. You might as well live in a lighthouse off the Scottish highlands. People think that they are in touch because they print a few lines everyday, but to me it seems like the essence of loneliness."
Morrissey hit the headlines earlier this week when he called Prince Harry an 'idiot' and made disparaging comments about Kate Middleton.
