Openly gay X Factor star Jade Ellis has shrugged off comments directed at her over her sexuality, revealing she has suffered abuse on the street for being a lesbian.
The bleach-blonde singer, who was chosen by Tulisa alongside Lucy Spraggan and Ella Henderson for the show's live finals, has told how she has become able to brush off comments and is proud of her sexuality.
"I've had very ignorant people shout our 'lesbian' in the street, but it's not a derogatory thing to me," says the singer in an interview with Look magazine.
Meanwhile, fellow gay contestant Lucy Spraggan has revealed that most of her self-penned songs are about an older woman she fell in love with when she was a teenager.
"When I was 18, I fell for a 27-year-old, and most of the songs are about her," she tells the magazine, saying she is currently single after her last partner travelled to the other side of the world. "I was seeing a girl for about five months, but she's going to Thailand for a year. It's heartbreaking, but i'd much rather have loved her than never met her. There's no way i'd want her to change her plans. We'll keep in contact and see what happens."
Jade and Lucy will both be seen on this weekend's X Factor as the pair perform on the first of the X Factor's live shows. Ella Henderson is currently the favourite to win the show.
