Rumours of a Foo Fighters split have been denied by a spokesperson for the band, who has refuted the claims that the band are calling time on their career.

Suggestions of a break up began to circulate this week after comments made by Dave Grohl at a New York show on the weekend (29 September) seemed to suggest the band were at the end of their career.

"Without making a big deal out of it, we don't have any shows after this. This is it, man," said Grohl during the band's performance at the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park. "This is the show where we come out and we play as many songs as we can in a short period of time, because, honestly, I don't know when we're gonna do it again and this is the perfect place to do it, right now, tonight."

The news spread like wildfire, with many speculating the band were quitting, when in fact the show was simply the last on their current schedule.

"They are definitely not breaking up," said a rep for the band to MTV.

Grohl previously had to deny rumours that the band were splitting after telling the audience at Reading Festival that the band would not be back any time soon.
