US hip-hop group Death Grips have caused chaos after putting their new album ‘NO LOVE DEEP WEB’ online as a free download.

The band sent out a series of cryptic tweets over the weekend and yesterday morning tweeted "The label wouldn't confirm a release date for NO LOVE DEEP WEB 'till next year sometime,'" followed by, "The label will be hearing the album for the first time with you."

True to their word the Californian group put the new album on their website as a free download. Having already released ‘The Money Store’ earlier this year, the record label had apparently promised the band two releases in 2012 but after having second thoughts, the band took matters into their own hands.

Fans downloading the album were met with the NSFW album artwork, featuring the album title written on an erect penis. You can see the censored version above.

However, later that day their website got taken down and group member Zach Hill has told Pitchfork he believes record label Epic were behind the move. Epic, part of the Sony group, have denied any involvement in taking down the website.

Not to be deterred by this move the band have continued to tweet links to websites like Soundcloud and YouTube in order for fans to download the album free of charge.

At the time of writing (Oct 2) Death Grips website was back online with fans still able to download the album for free.
