Muse have discussed their place on the music map, with the band revealing that the title of 'best band in the world' blows their minds - but it's not one they intend on shying away from.
The westcountry band release their new album this week, and it looks certain to topple Mumford & Sons from the No.1 spot on this week's chart. The band spoke to The Telegraph about their hopes and intentions for the album - and their place as one of the world's biggest rock bands.
"When titles like 'world’s greatest band’ get thrown in our direction, it blows my mind,” says drummer Don Howard. “It’s an amazing feeling and it makes you want to live up to it. Somebody’s got to be the best band in the world. Why not us?”
But while the band are undeniably popular, they remain uncertain whether their music is on trend with the current music scene - but don't mind if they are unfashionable.
"We’re trying to do something which is a bit special," says Matt Bellamy. "I don’t know if it’s fashionable. Maybe fashion will have to come to us."
