Cheryl Cole has revealed the embarassing moment she met her US X Factor replacement, Nicole Scherzinger, describing the moment as 'so awkward'
The reason for Cheryl feeling uncomfortable? Scherzinger chose to sing Cheryl's own hit to her after taking her place on the US X Factor judging panel. Cheryl was famously flown to the USA by Simon Cowell in 2011 for a role on the US show, but her place on the panel was short lived, as Scherzinger was drafted in to replace the Geordie singer.
Now, in a new extract from Cheryl Cole's biography, she describes the moment the pair first met.
"The first time I met Nicole was when she was performing on The X Factor in London." reads the extract from her autobiography, which has been leaked on Twitter.
"'Oh my God, Cheryl! You're just as pretty in real life! I heard your song on the radio!' she had gushed. It was really embarrassing.
"Then she started singing 'Promise This' to me, and I swear to God the woman sang the whole song, to my face. It was just so awkward, and every time I stood next to her she started singing it again."
"I thought how that would be like me going up to Britney and singing the whole of 'Baby, One More Time' in her face. Can you imagine how weird that would be?"
Nicole Scherzinger this week breathed a sigh of relief when her controversial X Factor contestant Rylan Clark was saved in a controversial 'deadlock' during the first live final of X Factor 2012. The incident has prompted fellow judge Gary Barlow to threaten to quit the show if another 'joke' act is saved in favour of genuine talent. He was furious that Nicole's act was saved in favour of his country and western singer, Carolynne Poole.
