McFly bassist Dougie Poynter has revealed how his depression and alcohol problem hit such a low in 2011 that the youngster attempted suicide.
The 24-year-old is said to have opened up about his bid to end his life during an interview with Alan Carr on his talk show, Chatty Man, revealing how 'dark' things became during his battle with alcohol.
"It's always good to reflect on that sort of stuff," he said, after Carr questioned Poynter about comments in the band's new biography. "I'm in a really, really good place now. It is quite easy to forget.
"It's quite therapeutic to go back, quite scary and a bit of an eye opener into how dark it can get if you take your foot off the gas and stop looking after yourself."
Bandmate Harry Judd also revealed that despite his bandmates attempt to help the younger member of McFly, he was often too drunk to take notice of their suggestions.
"Half the time you didn't know what you were doing - it was us telling you," said Judd during the interview.
"Yes, because I was so battered," replied Poynter.
Bandmate Tom Fletcher concluded, saying that he was fully 'sorted' now, having married girlfriend Lara Carey-Jones at the end of 2011.
