Adele's 'Someone Like You' has never been one of the most cheerful songs, but the hit single is now one of the most popular song choices for a funeral.
The Co-operative Funeralcare carried out a study and surveyed 250 of their 900 funeral homes across Britain to discover the top music played at funerals.
They found that pop music has replaced hymns in two-thirds of British funerals as hymns have fallen to 30% of funeral music requests.
The track 'Someone Like You', which in July 2011 was the first single of the last decade to sell a million units in the UK, managed to place at number 22 on the funeral music chart. (We're sure Adele will be thrilled.)

The overall favourite was Frank Sinatra's 'My Way' for the seventh year running, having only been overtaken once in 2002 by Bette Midler's 'Wind Beneath My Wings.' However, it's not all depressing - some funerals had a more lighthearted approach, as Eric Idle's 'Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life' made it in at number 13.
The survey also showed that a number of funeral homes refused to play certain requests as they were deemed inappropriate. John Lennon's 'Imagine' was one of these due to the line "imagine there's no Heaven."
