Online ticket vendor Viagogo has revealed that over a million people have flooded their website seeking ticket information on The Rolling Stones upcoming London shows - despite only 30,000 tickets due to be made available.
The rock icons perform live at London's O2 on 25 and 29 November 2012, and demand for the tickets is huge - despite disappointment among some fans over the prices of the concerts. However, fans remain undeterred, and Viagogo has registered the highest demand for tickets it has ever seen.
But with such high demand comes the problem of ticket scams - and the website has issued fans with a warning of online scam artists hoping to make money by ripping people off.
"The Rolling Stones are a global phenomenon – and one of the last supergroups still performing with a full line up," says Viagogo spokesperson Ed Parkinson. "This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see them, and there will be some unscrupulous organisations looking to take advantage of that.
"Always check the reputable ticket market places like viagogo to find the true market value and never buy a ticket that isn’t 100% guaranteed."
The Rolling Stones - live in 1965
The Rolling Stones announced their live shows (in both London and the US) earlier this week via an official video announcement - confirming weeks of rumours and accidental interview slips from band members and touring musicians.
Keith Richards of the band has also revealed his interest in performing at Glastonbury in 2013, saying the idea of a performance at Worthy Farm next year is being considered.
"On a good day, if the weather's fine, [Glastonbury] is an interesting proposition," he told the BBC, before hinting at future Rolling Stones live shows, adding: "Anything is possible. This band isn't going to wind up with four shows."
Tickets for Rolling Stones London O2 dates go on sale at 9am, Friday 19 October 2012. For more information visit Gigwise Gig Tickets.
