Madonna has been ordered to appear in court due to reportedly encouraging Russian minors to have gay sex.
During a concert in Saint Petersburg in August, Madonna spoke to the crowd about gay rights and urged them to support it. She also handed out pink bracelets for gay rights and asked the audience to hold their arms up during the gig.
Now nine members of the Trade Union of Russian Citizens are claiming more than £6million in compensation for "moral damages" caused by the concert, and are accusing Madonna of blasphemy and damaging the cultural foundations of Saint Petersburg.
Darya Dedova, a Union spokesperson, said: ''She insulted believers' feelings, she promoted homosexuality when there were children at the concert and this is forbidden in St Petersburg. We, the residents of the cultural capital, suffered a colossal moral damage.''
The lawsuit orders Madonna to defend the comments she made - which were reported as being: "Show your love and appreciation to the gay community. We want to fight for the right to be free."
At least she's wearing underwear...
The Vice-President of Russia, Dmitry Rogozin, referenced Madonna on his English Twitter by writing: "Every ex-wh*re tends to lecture everybody with age. Especially during world tours and concerts."
This isn't the first time that Rogozin has branded Madonna a whore - he also commented on the controversy in August, writing: "With age, every former s. tries to lecture everyone on morality.
"Either take off your cross, or put on your knickers."
While he only wrote the letter "s", Russian speakers have said it is certain that he meant "slut".
Madonna has not yet appeared in court as the plaintiffs did not know her US address and so were not able to notify her. This means that the hearing, which was originally to take place on October 11, has been postponed until October 25.
Madonna has previously angered the Russian government with her outspoken support of Pussy Riot.
