Brooklyn band Grizzly Bear have apologised to Newcastle fans after apparently insulting them during a show last night.
Reports from the gig suggest that the band offended the audience, comparing them to 'zombies' after an unresponsive reaction to their live performance. The band took to Twitter to apologise for the on stage comments - but admit they fully intend to speak their mind at future shows.
"For the record we had a great time playing Gareshead/Newcastle, was just a really quiet crowd.appreciate everyone that came, as we said live," said the band on their official Twitter.
"So I have a personality and speak my mind. I still appreciate ever person that ever comes to our shows or buys the record or cares. Honestly.
"But I'd rather be real than just blankly say "thank you x city" C'est la vie."

Grizzly Bear later attempted to inject some energy into the audience - with beer, obviously.
"Free beers on me to whoever comes to brew dog in Newcastle as thanks for coming to the show," they added.
The band tweeted further, hinting that despite their apologies, they were less than happy with the response from the Newcastle audience.
"I love the idea that we should all just blindly thank everyone and smile. That's not how the world works," they continued. "Being honest always gets you in trouble. Remind me not to be honest in the future."
