Mumford & Sons star Ben Lovett has revealed a newfound love of food, revealing plans to cook for his bandmates as they tour their Babel album across the globe.

The record breaking London band are set to tour the UK later this year, but tour dates further afield will see Lovett prepare and serve more ambitious cuisine to Mumford & Sons. Lovett revealed his cooking passion on his blog, roping in chef Lucy Pedder to assist in his culinary adventures.

"Each tour, Lucy and I will research significant dishes from the part of the world I’m in," he says. "Then I’m going to cook these recipes and serve them to the boys – from Lucy’s instructions."

The UK has experienced a revival in interest for home cooking in recent months, thanks largely to the success of cookery shows such as The Great British Bake Off, which has expanded kitchen horizons (and waistlines) across the country.

Mumford & Sons celebrate US success with Saturday Night Live performance

Mumford & Sons have experienced what has arguably been the most successful year of their career in 2012, breaking sales records internationally with second album, Babel. Babel sold 600,000 copies in its week of release in America, hitting No.1 with ease. The album is the band's first stateside chart topper and is the fastest selling record in the US this year. It has also been named the biggest selling rock album since 2008.

"It's not sports day. It's not a competition," says Ted Dwayne of the band in an interview with the BBC. "But it's great and weird. It's so weird with these numbers."

Billboard magazine reports the full list of Babel's achievements are as below.
