Adele has become a mum for the first time, with reports revealing she gave birth on Friday night to a son.

The singer is said to be 'ecstatic' at the successful birth, welcoming the son with partner Simon Konecki. The record-breaking London star has been out of the spotlight in recent months due to her pregnancy, only resuming her music career recently to record the official Bond theme tune, 'Skyfall'.

Speaking on behalf of the couple, a source tells The Daily Mail: "Adele and Simon are ecstatic at their new arrival."

"She was over the moon that they were expecting their first child together."

An official statement is yet to be made.

Adele is said to be working on the follow up record to her monumental 21 album, which US sources claim will be a 'happier' listen and inspired by her newfound love and now, growing family.

"It will be lighter than her last ode to break-up," said a source to Us magazine in September of this year. "The pregnancy has had a big impact on her songwriting. She is lying low and focusing on becoming a mom. The baby is healthy and she's so excited."
