James Blunt has announced he is to retire from music, revealing he has no plans for any more songwriting.

Blunt shot to fame in 2005 with his hit single 'You're Beautiful' but hasn't had a Top Forty single since his 2008 release, 'Stay The Night'. His most recent album, Some Kind Of Trouble hit No.4 in 2010, reaching Gold status in the UK.

Now Blunt has revealed his hit-making days are long behind him, after settling down for a sun-soaked life in Ibiza.

"I haven’t got any plans to do more songwriting," Blunt tells The Daily Mail. "I have been chilling out since I finished my world tour and I’ve spent a lot of time in Ibiza, where I have a villa.

"I just want to take some time out for myself."

Speaking of his love of life in the sun, Blunt also tells the newspaper of his summer spent relaxing with girlfriend of nine month, Sofia Wellesley: "Sofia and I had a great time hanging out with friends on my yacht but we partied as well," he added.

Blunt has released three albums and sixteen singles during his eight year career.
