Girls Aloud may have been recently named the biggest selling girl group of the 21st Century, but the girls are trailing X Factor four-piece Little Mix when it comes to YouTube popularity.

Both girl groups premiered new videos on Friday 19 October 2012 but, despite the fanfare of a London press conference to announce Girls Aloud's return, 2011 X Factor winners Little Mix have chalked up hundred of thousands more video views than Cheryl Cole and co. The second single from Little Mix, 'DNA' has been watched almost 1,800,000 times since 19 October - with 'Something New' by Girls Aloud having been watched 1,090,000 since the same date.

Little Mix has also had a much high number of YouTube 'likes', with 61,000 viewers showing their approval of the group's second single. 12,000 Girls Aloud fans have 'liked' their new video.

Little Mix may be reigning supreme in the girlband stakes, but they have quite a way to go to rival the success of Girls Aloud.

Since they formed in 2002, the band have sold 4.3 million singles - including four No.1 songs and 20 top ten hits, not to mention two No.1 albums.

Their best selling single overall was debut hit 'Sound of the Underground', which sold over 653,000 copies in the UK. And 'The Promise' was their top selling digital download, racking up 485,000 sales.

Tickets for Girls Aloud's UK tour go on general sale on Friday, 26 October, 2012. For more information visit Gigwise Gig Tickets.
