The xx, Grimes and Cat Power are just some of the acts that have been forced to cancel or postpone their scheduled concerts in the US, as the East Coast braces itself for the extreme weather.

Hurricane Sandy is set to cause havoc right along the East Coast of America, and according to The New York Times areas from Delaware to Southern New England could be affected. Millions of people have been told to stay put with schools closed and New York's subway closed due to fear of record-breaking floods.

This has caused several acts to reschedule or cancel shows;

The xx have postponed their tour dates in New York, Philadelphia, and Baltimore. They'll announce make-up dates later this week, and in a press release, they've advised people to hold on to their tickets.

Grimes' show last night with Elite Gymnastics at the Music Hall of Williamsburg was cancelled along with Cat Power's show at Philadelphia's Electric Factory, which has been postponed to January 2.

Another cancelled gig is Ghostface Killah and Sheek Louch's show last night at the Highline Ballroom. The Yasiin Bey (formerly Mos Def) show at the Apollo has been cancelled.

Postponed gigs include Rusko's Halloween show at Pacha, which has been moved back to December 30 and Blitzen Trapper's shows last night and tonight at the Beacon Theatre, which has no rescheduled date as of yet.
