Velociraptor! stars Kasabian have been named as the headliner of next year's Snowbombing Festival.

The band will top the bill at the 2013 event, held high in the Austrian Alps in April. The band will perform two shows at the event - and no doubt indulge in some snowboarding while they're on the peaks.

The band will be in the Alps from 1-6 April 2013 and will headline the main festival - but also perform an exclusive, intimate show for a handful of fans. The band promise, in a post on their website, that the second show will take place 6,000 feet up on the crest of a mountain.

The band will be joined by some unlikely co-stars on the bill, with only dance acts previously announced for the festival. Also perfroming at the 2013 event will DJs Carl Cox, Skream, Fake Blood, Norman Jay, Scuba, Toddla T and many more. More acts are set to be announced in the coming months.

Previous big name acts to perform at Snowbombing include Fatboy Slim, Friendly Fires, Mylo, Madness, Dizzee Rascal, The Prodigy and Doves. Dizzee Rascal headlined the 2012 event after Snoop Dogg pulled out of his performance.

Snowbombing founder Gareth Cooper said of the 2013 event: “One of the world’s best live bands playing in a small Austrian village is what Snowbombing is all about; delivering a unique, intimate festival experience in amazing surroundings and venues.”

Kasabian's songwriter Serge Pizzoron recently spoke of his renewed enthusiasm for live performances, writing on the band's website: "Off the back of the world tour, we’ve never been so good, we’ve found a new level," says Serge on the band's official website. "I thought there were seven levels and there’s not, there are eight levels and we’re on the eighths level. And there may even be a nine."

"We’ve found this level that makes us want to play more and more."
