Britney Spears has hinted that a musical appearance on The X Factor US could be in the works.
In a new interview with Extra TV, the singer didn't deny that she could be performing on the show - outside of her judging role.
When asked about the possbility of a performance on the show's final, Spears said: "Maybe so. Something could be in the works. We don't know."
Okay, so it's not exactly a confirmation - but it's definitely not a denial, which is almost as good. And if Britney does take to the stage during The X Factor US final, it would be her first live appearance since December 2011, when she finished her Femme Fatale world tour.
Simon Cowell has admitted recently that he's been trying to persuade the superstar to perform on the show. According to The X Factor USA's official Twitter, Simon is quoted as saying: "I'm gonna push for her to do something on the final. I think she'll probably do it."

Simon also recently claimed that an over-25 will not win the singing competition.
In an interview in the US, Cowell made the statement as he spoke openly of his opinions on the outcome of this year's show. X Factor USA is currently in its second year in America, with Britney Spears and Demi Lovato joining the panel for the new series.
US site The Examiner reports that Cowell told journalists the 'Teens' category is the strongest and that he cannot see anyone from the 'over 25s' group winning the contest.
