Reading and Leeds festivals are set to add three new stages to their events in 2013 to cater for more dance music at new year's festivals.
Melvin Benn, the organiser of the festivals, has spoken about plans to add more music to the events and increase the entertainment - although there are no plans to increase the crowd capacity.
The number of stages could go from the current number of six, to eight or nine instead. Benn hopes that this will enable organisers to have more diverse bands and a greater range of music.
As quoted by BBC Newsbeat, Benn said: "We're changing the arena at Reading and Leeds quite significantly.
"I've got quite a strong buzz and feeling in myself in the changes that I'm making there. I'm still formulating the ideas.
"There will [be] quite a bit more dance music, quite a bit more other bits and pieces."
He added: "Reading and Leeds are going to be going out on sale before Christmas, but we'll have the full [set] on sale in March next year where we announce most of the bill.
"I'm looking at probably announcing certainly one of the headliners before Christmas."
Leeds and Reading festivals could see up to three new stages next year.
Speaking to NME previously, Benn said: "We've got two out of the three headliners already secured. The third – we know exactly who we want.
"We haven't made the approach yet, [but] my feeling is they want to do it."
He went on to rule out the possibility of The Stone Roses, adding: "My feeling is probably that [The Stone Roses] are not on our list."
Benn also spoke of plans to organise a new, smaller festival. He said that ideas were still in the pipeline but that he wants to create a new experience.
He said: "I felt it would be nice to start a really tiny little festival and see how that goes. "I've got some people I want to work with who I think will bring fresh and new ideas to the festival market and we'll want to create a festival that's different to everything else that's out there.”
Benn, who is also organiser of Latitude festival, finished by describing the Foo Fighters' Leeds performance as 'very special' and went on to say, "That was the biggest love-in I've ever seen.
"The atmosphere, the bond between Dave Grohl and the fans is just unreal. It felt very special. I was quite moved by it actually."
