Lucy Spraggan has has officially quit X Factor, with her mentor Tulisa saying she is 'so sad' to have lost the contestant from the show.
The singer/songwriter and former busker has been forced to pull out of the TV talent show due to ongoing illness. She was unable to perform on the show last weekend. The singer has made an official statement speaking of her disappointment at being unable to continue on the show.
She will not be replaced on the show and this week's elimination will go ahead.
“I am gutted not to be able to continue on this journey but I’m not well enough to perform," said Spraggan in a statement.
"To accept another free pass having missed last weekend would not be fair on the others in the competition. There is no way that this setback will prevent me from fulfilling my ambition.
"You’ll be hearing from me again very soon.
Spraggan's mentor Tulisa commented: ”I’m so sorry to lose Lucy from the competition.. I now count her as a friend as she is an amazing girl.”

Rumours surfaced earlier this week that Spraggan, who made X Factor history as the first ever contestant to perform original material on the show, has not attended any of this week's rehearsals. Fellow contestants have spent the week in the TV studio preparing for tonight's live show.
"It will be the right reason for her to leave but we’re all here for her,” her fellow contestant Rylan Clark told Entertainmentwise earlier this week.
