Against Me! frontwoman Laura Jane Grace was hit in the face by a microphone when fans rushed the stage - and may be facing dental reconstructive surgery.

According to Punknews.org, the band were playing a show at The Soapbox in Wilmington in North Carolina, when a group of fans rushed the stage.

Her microphone was accidentally kicked into her mouth and some of her teeth were knocked out.

Laura posted on her Twitter after the show making light of the incident as she posted: "For those asking, last night my mic was kicked into my face and it shattered a couple of teeth. It was an accident, but still really hurt...

"I'm also pretty upset about the idea reconstructive dental surgery.

"I'm gonna start a kickstarter to get a diamond grill like Kanye."

Laura Jane Grace possibly needs dental surgery.

The band haven't made an official statement, but fan Matt Herzog posted on Against Me's Facebook, writing: "I seriously f**king apologize on behalf of those douchebags that stormed the stage and stopped the show tonight.

"Please don't think we're all anything like those few a**holes. Up until that point you guys were beyond sick. Ever since I heard the news in the summer I'd been waiting to see Laura and it was insanely surreal. I hope she's okay and I hope you guys can still come back in the future."
