Sheila Blanco has lodged an appeal over the handling of the case of her son's death, who fell from a balcony in 2006 after arguing with Pete Doherty.
Mark Blanco was involved in an argument with Doherty, his minder Johnny Jeannevol and literary agent/alleged drug dealer Paul Roundhill in the building in Whitechapel, and shortly after fell from the first floor balcony.
Doherty claimed that that he was involved with the incident but was caught on CCTV stepping over Blanco's body as he tried to beat a hasty retreat from the building. He later said that he felt "sick to his stomach" and "ashamed" of running past Blanco's body.
Blanco died of head injuries sustained from the fall, and police investigators ruled that the death was not suspicious. Sheila forced a reopening into the case in 2010 but authorities decided that there was insufficient evidence to bring criminal charges in connection with the incident.
Despite a probe launched by London Met Police finding 'issues' with the investigation, it was ruled that disciplinary action would not be taken against the officers involved.
Now Sheila is taking her campaign to the IPCC - Independent Police Complaints Commission.

An IPCC spokeswoman toldd WENN: "There was a complaint made to the Met Police. They sometimes come to us or they investigate themselves. I think in this case they investigated themselves and Mrs. Blanco is not happy with the outcome so she has appealed to us.
"So that is the situation being dealt with. We have just received it last month. We are looking at the appeal. We look to see whether the investigation does what it said it would do."
A Met Police spokesperson said: “We received a complaint in response to various aspects of the original investigation. An investigation by the director of professional standards was launched. The investigation is now complete. An appeal has been lodged by the complainant with the IPCC."
Next month will see BBC show Newsnight broadcast an investigation into the case.
