Tickets for The Rolling Stones upcoming O2 shows are selling for a third of their face value as the gigs approach.

Fans were initially outraged at the high prices of the London shows by the rock icons, but ticket site Viagogo report that £375 tickets are now selling for as little as £250 on their site.

Some ticket holders have taken to great lengths in theirs attempts to cash in on the high prices - with one wannabe tout even taking out an advert in the national press to sell tickets.

"These ridiculous ticket prices you hear about are simply taking the mick," says Viagogo spokesperson Edward Parkinson.

"Viagogo’s marketplace shows the true value of the ticket and we’re seeing that, as the gigs draw closer, the reality is people are prepared to pay around £250 to see the Stones."

Mick Jagger and Ronnie Wood have both recently defended the prices of the Rolling Stones London shows (which range from £100 to £1000), both claiming they would see little of the money made and that most went into staging their spectacular show.

The above advert appeared in The Metro in November asking for more than £2,750

“We can’t, in four shows, change the whole ticketing system. You might say, ‘The tickets are too expensive’ – well, it’s a very expensive show to put on, just to do four shows, because normally you do a hundred shows and you’d have the same expense.”

The singer went on to further defend the pricing, claiming that most of the ticket are sold at a higher price than the band sell them for, and that the band don’t see any of that profit.
