Hollywood star Whoopi Goldberg has defended Chris Brown's Twitter rant against US comic Jenny Johnson, saying Johnson should have expected the reaction she received.
After co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck called Brown's comments 'verbal rape', Whoopi said that she disagreed with that but went on to insist that Johnson shouldn't have been surprised at the abuse she received.
Whoopi also seemed to defend Brown by saying that he'd taken his Twitter account down, implying that he'd clearly regretted his actions and that by removing his Twitter account, he was less accountable.
She said, "You know what, I have to say, if you wanna mess with him, you have to expect to get your head handed to you. Now, I sort of feel like, you know, you have no right... If you feel like that, and you don't wanna fight, don't do that. Don't do that.
"And I disagree with 'verbal rape', I don't think that's verbal rape, but - I just think both was assault. Both were verbally assaulting each other. And that is what we need to get rid of on Twitter because it happens too often and too much to too many people. People feel like they can do that.
"There is free speech but you can't be surprised that you get your head handed to you."
