Lindsay Lohan has been savaged by critics for her new Liz Taylor biopic Liz & Dick, but the troubled star still has the support of Lady Gaga.

The duo are rumoured to have worked together on a future Lady Gaga video for her rumoured single 'Nothing On (But The Radio)', which is said to be the first release from her upcoming album, ARTPOP. The pair clearly share a friendship, with Gaga sending her support to Lohan after poor reviews for her hugely hyped biopic.

Following the broadcast, Gaga tweeted: "@lindsaylohan you did a beautiful job on Liz & Dick, Let no one bring u down, Liz didnt, they always try to knock the greats down a few pegs."

Gaga's tweet was one of the only positive responses to Lohan's latest acting flop, and she responded to Gaga, tweeting back: "You are such an incredible force and that means the world to me :) love & hugs xo hope to see you soon bella."

Hat or hair? Lindsay on the set of Liz & Dick (playing Liz, obviously)

US publication Entertainment Weekly said of the film: "Taylor and Burton deserved better, and Lohan should have shed her protective shell and stepped up her game."

LA Times called the TV movie 'graceless', adding it had "more petulance than passion, knocking down gin bottles and rumpling silk sheets for no better reason than that's what it says to do in the script."

The Hollywood reporter pointed the finger directly at Lohan, calling her performance 'woeful', in the role she had hoped would put her back on the top of her game after years of drink, drugs and legal dramas. Meanwhile Time magazine goes a little easier on Lohan by spreading the blame, writing: "Lindsay Lohan cannot make a movie this bad by herself. There's an ample assist from the screenwriting, which strings together soap-opera lines."

It wasn't all bad news however, as Variety called the film 'wobbly' but added 'ultimately stands on its own.'

The New York Post found the goodness in the movie, saying: "There are so many things in this movie that are just so damned juicy that it is sure is more fun to watch than the exploits of today's orchestrated star pairings."
