It has been revealed that the real reason behind The Pussycat Dolls split was Nicole Scherzinger's jealousy of a bandmate.

Former Pussycat Doll Carmit Bachar has told how the group split due to Scherzinger's envy of fellow Doll Ashley Roberts - who is currently starring in I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! on UK screens.

"Ashley had that iconic American thing going on - blonde hair, blue eyes. It was the look Nicole seemed to want but could never have," she said.

"No one could understand why Nicole was so jealous," she continued.

"But she always had a thing about blonde girls. Ashley knew that Nicole was jealous of her and it made her feel uncomfortable. It was a hideous undertone in the group."

Carmit also revealed that when the group first met Lewis Hamilton it wasn't Nicole that he seemed interested in, but rather her bandmate Melody Thornton.

"We ran into Lewis lots of times - in clubs in Amsterdam and here and there - and the chemistry I saw was between him and Melody, not him and Nicole," she said.

The burlesque-themed girl group began to collapse in 2008, and Carmit believes that Nicole's insecurity was a main cause.

Remembering the beginning of the end, Carmit recalled the group's performance at London's Live Earth.

"One of the best shows we ever played was Live Earth. But it was also at Live earth where the trouble began," she told the tabloid. "Nicole messed up the walk on and the first song and we all followed her lead. It was really embarassing.

"I think Nicole got it into her head that she was the real star and would be better off on her own.

"She started travelling in her own tour bus and the divide between her and the rest of us just got bigger."

The group finally feel apart in 2010, when Jessica and Ashley followed Carmit and walked away from the Pussycat Dolls.

"Nicole basically wanted to be front and centre all the time. We were expected towork our asses off to boost Nicole and her own career. The situation became unbearable."

Although Nicole has since claimed she sung 95% of the group's vocals and was the driving force behind the project, Carmit says she was in fact the reason they split.

"Nicole tried to do a solo album, but it did not work and I think that hurt the label and eveyrone else in the end.

"I heard she did a ton of demos which weren't cheap."

Ashley is currently taking part in I'm A Celebrity.. and is beginning to emerge as a darkhorse who might just win the jungle competition.

Carmit also remarked that a PCD reunion wasn't out of the question, but not with Nicole.
