MTV has announced a number of bands and artists it is tipping for 2012 - one of the first tip-lists to emerge as we approach the end of the year.
The list includes LA three-piece Haim, who are bringing credibility back to girlgroups with their guitar-pop which mixes folk, rock and retro Fleetwood Mac sounds, all with a radio friendly sheen. Haim have spent much of 2013 bubbling under the radar but are set for big things in 2013 and join Florence + The Machine on their UK tour in December of this year.
Tom Odell is the latest UK singer/songwriter to make waves with his delicate, folk-influenced harmonies and was signed after playing just his fourth ever gig.
Irish band Kodaline also err on the softer sider of the alternative side of things, Kodaline follow in the footsteps of Keane and Coldplay in mixing heartfelt sounds with an obvious stadium ambition.

Tom Odell is tipped for big things in 2013
The winner of the annual award is Australian Ebony Day, who spoke of her excitement at being named MTV's Brand New For 2013 pick.
"Winning MTV’s Brand New Unsigned 2013 competition is a dream come true! I’m so thankful to my fans for getting me here and I can’t wait to see what 2013 brings," she says.
