Noel Gallagher has said he hopes to perform with former Britpop rival Damon Albarn at the Teenage Cancer Trust gig he is curating in 2013.

Speaking to Xfm's Dan O'Connell, Gallagher said, "They were one of the first people that I asked - if Blur could do it - because Damon had always said that he'd like to do it, they've tried to get Gorillaz once or twice but could never quite make it work. It was a shame Blur couldn't do it."

He continued, "I dunno how they're gonna do it... I think Damon plays piano and Graham plays guitar and they'll do a load of Blur songs and everyone has a great night.

"I wouldn't be adverse to getting up with them and playing Tender though - that being one of my favourite Blur songs."

When it was pointed out that this wouldn't have been a likely statement to hear fifteen years ago, Gallagher undoubtedly agreed.

He added, "What would I have said in '97? There would have been swear words involved. Definitely."

Noel went on to confirm Kasabian, Rizzle Kicks, Ryan Adams, Beth Orton, Labrinth and Graham Coxon for the show. Also signed up for the charity show are comedy stars Russell Brand and Noel Fielding, bringing a touch of humour to the evening. The event will take place across six nights in March 2013.

Noel recently blasted current pop acts for being dull and afraid of being honest in interviews.

Speaking to The Daily Star, he said: "Back in the 90s the Top 20 was mostly bands and now it's all manufactured pop. They have got their careers to think about.

"So you don't get anybody swearing or even admitting to smoking."

The Teenage Cancer Trust has a long history of working with the music indusrty to fundraise for its cause, with many artists and organisations donating to the charity.

The NME Tour will donate 50p from every ticket sale to the charity's cause, while Noel himself recently donated his old guitar strings for the organisation's Wear Your Music campaign, which makes bracelets out of guitar strings.

Ttickets for the event are available from Friday (December 7). Full dates and line-ups are below. For more information visit Gigwise Gig Tickets.
