The shortlist for the 2013 BRITs Critics' Choice Award have been announced this morning.

The list of three acts features AlunaGeorge, Laura Mvula and Tom Odell.

Previous winners of the award have gone on to have massive success. Adele, Jessie J and Emeli Sande have all been awarded the prestigous honour in the last.

With Adele this year reaching 25 million sales worldwide with her album 21, and Emeli Sande being asked to perform at the Olympic ceremony this year, 2013's nominees will be hoping the same might be in store for them, should they win.

Laura Mvula, who has been described as a cross between Nina Simone and Bjork, said: Wow, I'm speechless! it's unbelievable and I'm in total shock.

"I don't think I've ever experienced this kind of shock before. It's such an honour to be included in this prestigous shortlist, I don't think I can even putit into words.

Odell, the 22-year-old  who has enjoyed growing succes this year, said: "I'm thrilled to be nominated and I feel privilieged to be in the same company as previous nominees.

The electronica duo of Aluna Francis and George Reid, known as AlunaGeorge have developed an ever-growing underground following this year and are hotly tipped for greatness next year.

"It's a great feeling to have our music recognised in such a big way," the pair said of the nomination.

Previous winner Adele picked up a number of awards at this year's BRITs

The shortlist was selected by a series of music industry insiders, with the winner to be announced on December 20.

Whoever the winner is, they'll be expecting a great 2013 as a result.
