UK hip-hop star Eminem has been named as a headliner for next year's Reading and Leeds festivals.
Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe confirmed Eminem last night, and this will be a return to the festivals for the 40 year old rapper - he previously played Reading and Leeds in 2001.
He's set to perform on the main stage along with Deftones, while Alt-J are set to appear on the NME/Radio 1 tent. Sub Focus and Boy Better Know have also been confirmed, with Sub Focus to play the BBC Radio 1 Dance Stage, and Boy Better Know set for the BBC Radio 1 Xtra Stage.
Both the BBC Radio 1 Dance Stage and the BBC Radio 1 Xtra Stage are new additions to the festivals, which mark a number of changes from festival organiser Melvin Benn.
Both sites will have more live acts on the line-up, with Reading festival also being expanded and a second entrance added, while Leeds festival is to be altered so that attendees may be able to explore the woods at night.
The festival is also introducing a £50 desposit scheme, so fans can buy their ticket and pay the rest off over the course of the year.
Leeds and Reading festivals are set to see some changes next year.
Melvin Benn said of the changes, "This is a dynamic time for the festivals. Not only do we have a fresh look for next year, but we are also adding to the fans’ experience of the festival with the introduction of more stages and genres of music, which also inevitably means an increase in the number of artists playing across the weekend.
"The addition of the hip-hop stage and the extension of the dance line-up to a three day stage - whilst not losing the essence of what Reading & Leeds Festivals are about across the existing Main, NME/Radio 1, Festival Republic and Lock Up Stages - are the things that really excite me."
