John Lewis advert star Gabrielle Aplin is set to release her debut album in April next year, with her second single to arrive in February.

Aplin was propelled into the spotlight after her cover of Frankie Go To Hollywood's 'The Power Of Love' was choosen for a John Lewis advert. The single is currently No.1 in the UK and a strong contender for the Christmas No.1.

The 20-year-old rising star began writing music when she was 15, and set up her own label, Never Fade Records, when she was 17, going on to release three EPs all of which charted on iTunes.

She built a substantial online following with a collection of YouTube videos of covers of songs by You Me At Six, Katy Perry and Cee Lo Green.

Originally from Bath, Aplin grew up in a self-confessed hippy household, where music was always around her, and cites Joni Mitchell, Bruce Springsteen and Nick Drake as influences on her music.

She signed to Parlophone early in 2012 and has since been working on her debut album.

"It can take minutes, hours or weeks," she says of her songwriting.

"Each one is different, but I've been working on this album for months now, from writing to recording - even being involved with the artwork - and I can't wait for everyone to finally hear it."
