Despite rumours that Christopher Maloney could miss the 2013 X Factor tour (and a £100k paycheck), the controversial singer has been confirmed for next year's shows.
The finalist's place on the shows was said to be in jeopardy after tales of his backstage behaviour emerged, with reports claiming he called fellow contestant Carolynne Poole a 'c***' during rehearsals last weekend. The singer has now been confirmed for the tour, after a spokesperson for the show confirmed he would be joining James Arthur, Jahmene Douglas, Union J, Ella Henderson and more for the string of live dates.
Maloney became hugely popular with the X Factor audience after being voted onto the show as a 'wild card', and retained his fanbase during the show. He did so in spite of constant criticsm from the show's judges and a string of rumours about his backstage behaviour from both show staff - and former finalists.
The singer took to Twitter today to hit back at critics, begging them to stop the abuse he has received online since his time on the show.
"Plz stop online abuse," he tweeted. "All I done was follow my dream, coming 3rd was an achievement. feel gutted I didn't win and im unwell right now, plz xx."
