More about: Adele
Adele's 'Someone Like You' has been named the song most likely to be ruined by over-enthusiastic wannabe singers, as it has become the most popular karaoke song in the UK.
The song has topped the tunes sung by users of the Lucky Voice website, which also has a chain of karaoke bars across the UK. 'Someone Like You' is sung by 7% of all users of the website, of which there are an estimated 200,000.
Second most popular is Carly Rae Jepsen's worldwide pop smash 'Call Me Maybe', which was attempted by 5.4% of users. One Direction placed third with 4.2% of users singing 'What Makes You Beautiful' and Adele also placed fourth, with 4.1% also singing 'Rolling In The Deep.
3.7% of the amateur pop stars also felt ambitious enough to make Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody' fifth most popular.
"We are witnessing an important cultural shift in the types of songs people are choosing to sing in the UK.
The Lucky Voice boss discussed the change in karaoke preferences, saying that there has been a shift from rock classics to modern hits.
"Even five years ago you would expect to find the charts dominated by the old guard of rock like Bon Jovi," says Nick Thistleton.
"In recent years traditional karaoke artists like Bonnie Tyler, Elton John and Guns 'n' Roses have had to make way to new and exciting artists like Carly Rae Jepsen, Gotye featuring Kimbra and LMFAO.
"Today, with the renaissance of karaoke, comes a new audience who demand current music and contemporary artists to listen and sing along to."
