'Gangnam Style' has taken the world by style in 2012 - and all eyes are on the east for the next k-pop breakthrough.
Girls Generation are hotly tipped to cross over in 2013, and launch their western world assault with their new track - 'Dancing Queen', which heavily samples Duffy's 2008 hit, 'Mercy'. Watch the video below.
Made up of nine female teens, Girls Generation are, for one, easier on the eye than Psy, and despite being sung almost entirely in Korean, 'Dancing Queen' has a little more musical merit than 'Gangnam Style'. The video, set in an American diner also suggests the girls now have their eyes on Western success - but like Psy, are admirably sticking to their native language in their tracks.
Girls Generation are Taeyeon, Jessica, Sunny, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung, Yoona and Seohyun and have already released six studio albums, each selling over 100,000 copies in their homeland.
