2012's biggest selling singles have been announced by the Official Charts Company. The year was the biggest year yet for sales of singles, so we're not exaggerating when we say it was no easy ride to break into the Top 10.
Some of the biggest selling singles will no doubt induce eyerolls from many. But predictableness aside, the top 40 is also a nod towards the current strength of British music, with British artists accounting for 45% of the full top 100 tracks.
Outside the top ten, numbers 20 - 11 (plus the sales figures) are as follows:
No. 11 Rihanna - Diamonds (672,000)
No.12 Labrinth Ft Emeli Sande - Beneath Your Beautiful (663,000)
No.13 Swedish House Mafia/Martin - Don't You Worry Child (632000)
No.14 Emeli Sande - Next To Me (621,000)
No.15 Flo Rida - Whistle (620,000)
No.16 Rudimental Ft John Newman - Feel the Love (619,000)
No.17 Rizzle Kicks - Mama Do The Hump (559,000)
No.18 Alex Clare - Too Close (557,000)
