Suede are back with a new album, Bloodsports, and have given fans a free download of a new track 'Barriers' ahead of its release.
With 'Barriers', Suede have avoided falling into the trap of simply remaking their old songs but have still managed to retain a sense of, well... Suede-ness. The track features everything that we're used to loving about the band - sweeping guitars, reverb on the vocals and lyrics about lemonade and lipstick traces.
Speaking to NME about the track, frontman Brett Anderson said, "After a year of sweating and bleeding over the record it's finally finished so we wanted to get some music out there as soon as we could. 'Barriers' isn't the first single but we are proud enough of it to just chuck it out there and thought that its pulsing, romantic swell somehow summed up the feel of the album quite nicely.
He went on to talk about the upcoming new record, saying, "The album is called Bloodsports. It's about lust, it's about the chase, it's about the endless carnal game of love.
"It was possibly the hardest we ever made but certainly is the most satisfying. Its ten furious songs for me have reclaimed for me what Suede was always about: drama, melody and noise."
The concert announcement was posted on Suede's Facebook page last year
Suede recently confirmed a concert at Alexandria Palace, London, set to take place on 30 March. The one-off show is in support of new record Bloodsports, and was announced via a puzzle game on the band's Facebook page.
The concert is to feature special guests which haven't yet been announced, and follows a series of comeback shows from Suede which have included Brixton Academy, The Royal Albert Hall and the O2 Arena.
