Keith Richards reacted angrily to an incident while on the road in the nineties, firing a gun when a golf ball landed in his breakfast.

The Rolling Stones star was preparing to eat, when the band's saxophonist Bobby Keys struck a golf ball - which landed in his eggs, Keys reveals in his new biography. Keith Richards was none too please, to say the least.

"When I hit my ball it hooked into the trees, ricocheted - and landed smack dab in the middle of his breakfast," writes Keys in the book. "So he shot it (with a gun). He's standing there on his patio with a pistol in his hand and smoke coming out of the muzzle.

"He was holding this smoking shell that used to be my golf ball. He said: 'That's a 10-stroke f**king penalty, and if you ever do it again I'll do the same to you! You ruined my f**king breakfast!' He was gettin' ready to eat his eggs Benedict."

The golf ball incident took place while the Rolling Stones were on tour in the nineties

Bobby Key's experience will serve as warning for any future musicians joining the band on any future tours, especially with rumours circulating that the band will be back on the road in 2013.

Mick Jagger himself sparked the rumours, telling Rolling Stone magazine in a recent interview that the band had been flooded with offers to take their show on the road after a number of successful 2012 shows. "There have been quite a few offers. I'm going to see what's on the table and discuss it with everyone."

Future Rolling Stones performances seemed like a promising prospect when Jagger added, 'We'll announce it when we've figured it out.'
