Madonna's brother, Christopher Ciccone, has branded Lady Gaga's style and costumes 'massively over the top'.
Christopher has previously designed the stage for Madonna's 1990 Blonde Ambition tour and directed the Girlie Show concert tour in 1993 - and now currently designs shoes.
He has now said in an interview with the Huffington Post that Gaga's mistake is that she isn't copying Madonna enough, and that she should be evolving her style.
Ciccone told the Post, "You have to remember what really made Madonna really popular is that girls could dress like her. You can’t dress like Gaga, only on Halloween perhaps. It's a really big part of being a performer - getting your fans to follow you. You have to evolve. At one point with Madonna, it was time for the tights to go."
He continued, "What I would do with Gaga is stream it all down and get rid of all the crap and make her a real person. It's cool on some level, but when you start out massively way over the top, there is nowhere to go. You get stuck there and you disconnect from the audience. You become this freak on the stage."

He also mentioned pop star Kelly Clarkson, saying that the 'Stronger' singer needs a style makeover.
Ciccone added, "I would love to overhaul Kelly Clarkson. I would certainly give her a style. She needs something. The girl's got an amazing voice; it's just the girl comes onstage dowdy and there is no particular look to her.
"She could do so much better. I don't know if she doesn't care and that’s fine, I just feel there is so much more."
