BRIT Award winner Tom Odell claims it feels 'weird' to win this year's Critics Choice award as he has only just released his first EP.

Speaking to MTV News at the Brit Awards launch event, Odell said, "It's sinking in now. I'm very happy. It's weird to win a Brit now as I've only just put out an EP but I'm very honoured and happy.

"It's crazy, I still can't believe it. I guess it's just amazing that people like the music - I put a lot of work into it and for people to like it, it's incredible."

He went on to speak about being the first male winner of the award, saying that he hopes he doesn't let 'the boys' down.

Odell continued, "I can't believe I'm the first boy because there have been loads of good boys over the past few years. I hope I don't let them down."

However, although the 'Another Love' singer hasn't yet decided where he's going to put his Brit award, he insisted that he was going to be 'respectful' with it.

"I have a book shelf," he said. "I heard Florence + the Machine uses it as a toilet roll holder but I think that's slightly disrespectful. There are a number of things you could do with it."

He was also asked about the birth of his mentor Lily Rose Cooper's new daughter, who is called Marnie Rose. Odell joked that he'd already started writing her a lullaby.

"It's already a work in process," he said, adding, "Marnie is a cool name."
