Yeah Yeah Yeahs have announced details of their new album, Mosquito and revealed the surreal artwork for their upcoming fourth album release.
The album will be released on 15 April 2013 and features and the sleeve shows a giant purple mosquito terrorising an equally purple baby. Check out the artwork to the right.
The band have worked with Dave Sitek, Ncik Launay and James Murphy on the new album, which frontwoman Karen O claims is packed with 'good vibes.
"We would love for this music to make our fans feeeeel something, for it to stir some shit up inside of them, whatever that may be," says the band's iconic frontwoman. "SO much feeling went into this record, it was the rope ladder thrown down into the ditch for us to climb up and dust ourselves off. I hope others can climb up it too; we’re excited to share the good vibes."
"We took a more playful, LO-FI approach to songwriting," she adds. "“Much of the music was demoed in our little basement studio in Manhattan with drum machines, a shitty sample keyboard and tons of delay - which we called the soup."
Yeah Yeah Yeahs release their fourth album, Mosquito, on 15 April 2013
A special edition of the album is available to pre-order, costing £26.99 and containing a deluxe CD and digital album and a limited Mosquito lithograph - of which the first 250 will be signed.
"This is a feel good, food for the soul, chicken soup for the ears Yeah Yeah Yeahs record - which doesn't mean easy listening - it means kind of raw, kind of chaotic, kind of dreamy," says O. "Very us."
