A UK college is offering to teach pop wannabes how to succeed on X Factor, launching a 17-week course on how to pass the show's auditions.

The course will offer wannabe stars in how to sing, perform and prepare for the audition across a 17-week course at Bishop Auckland College in County Durham. The course will cost students £95.

"I've watched X Factor auditions and thought, 'you could have done well but you just weren't prepared for it," says Mike Jinks of the college, "We will be giving them some home truths... This is not just about saying, 'go on X Factor and you will be famous."

He also adds that attending the course will not be an easy experience, saying he expects maximum commitment from students studying for X Factor auditions.

"We expect them to work hard. We expect them to understand that most people who go on X Factor put a lot of hard work and preparation into it," he added.

Gradutates could hit the heady heights of the Sheffield Christmas lights turn-on

The inspiration for the course was a concert staged at the college last year, which featured previous X Factor champion Joe McElderry and James Arthur, who went on to win the 2012 series.

Arthur went on to sell over a million copies of his debut single, 'Impossible', becoming the 127th track to ever do so in the UK.
