Lady Gaga attorneys are trying to keep a court case quiet which accuses Gaga of stealing a sample on her single 'Judas'.
The singer's lawyers have filed a motion which would mean that parts of a transcript from a hearing last month would be redacted, as they say that the public discussion involved details that both parties agreed to keep quiet.
The motion was part of a 2011 lawsuit between Lady Gaga and Rebecca Francescatti, who says that Lady Gaga stole elements of her 1999 song 'Juda' in order to use on her single, 'Judas'. Both artists worked with producer Brian Gaynor who is also being sued, according to Francescatti's lawyers.
The sample loop was used both in 'Judas' and in Jennifer Lopez's hit 'Invading My Mind', Francescatti's attorneys said, and texts between Gaga and producer RedOne show that Gaga got Lopez to give her a producing credit on 'Invading My Mind' in order to cover her tracks - even though she admitted she had done no work on the song.
Christopher Niro, Francescatti's attorney, said according to a transcript, "It looks to me like a conspiracy of silence. [Lady Gaga] did nothing. No work."
However, Gaga's attorney Catherine Spector told Judge Jeffrey Gilbert that Niro's theory "just doesn't hold up from our perspective."
Gilbert pointed out that Niro had shown that Gaga had already used a loop without credit, from reFX Audio Software.

According to a transcript, Niro said, "My sense of this is … the way this music is composed is there isn't a musician within miles of this. They're sitting at a computer. They're picking out segments.
"They're mixing them and mashing them and moving them around, and then they create this music. And when it comes out the end of the tunnel, nobody knows what elements went into that."
Discovery in the case is nearly complete and, according to Niro, Gaga's attorneys are expected to file a motion asking a judge to dismiss the case.
