Glastonbury Festival is offering one lucky act from the UK or Ireland the opportunity to play on this year's main stage.

The event is running an Emerging Talent Competition to find the hottest new artist around and give them a slot on the Pyramid Stage this June.

Unsigned artists have just one week to submit examples on formats such as YouTube and SoundCloud with the deadline being 5pm on Thursday, 24 January 2013.

A judging panel consisting of a whopping 40 judges including some of the UK's top music bloggers will whittle the acts down to a 120 shortlist.

After that, eight finalists will be chosen for the live performances in April in front of a smaller panel of judges. The final eight will also be judged by festival organisers Michael and Emily Eavis.

The entry form can be found on the Glastonbury website and is completely free to enter. For more information and for the entry form itself visit www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk

No artists have been confirmed for Glastonbury 2013, although Emily Eavis has previously confirmed that Stone Roses will not be on the line-up.
