Girls Aloud's PR company have today dismissed claims that the girls would be entering the Eurovision Song Contest to represent Britain, saying the claims are 'so ridiculous'
Last week suggestions circulated that the girl group would be heading to Malmo, Croatia, to represent the UK in the annual competition, with the UK Eurovision team allegedly eager to have the girls involved.
But on Friday the group’s PR company, Supersonic, said the story “isn’t true” and that the claims were “so ridiculous.”
Before Girls Aloud started to be mentioned in connection with the contest, X Factor star Rylan Clark was the favourite to represent the UK.
It was also recently revealed that German group Cascada had submitted a song in a bid to represent their country in the Eurovision with their track ‘Glorious’.
Girls Aloud reformed in November in time for their 10th anniversary and released a collection of their greatest hits.
A new documentary, called Girls Aloud - Ten Years At The Top, sees the girls reminiscing about what it was like when they were first starting out.
Girls Aloud have become one of the biggest pop groups in the worls since forming in 2002 for ITV talent show Popstars: The Rivals.
It remains unclear who will in fact be representing the UK in Eurovision 2013
At the end of February the girls will embark on a 14-date live tour of the UK, beginning at Newcaste’s Metro Anena and concluding at Liverpool’s Echo Arena towards the end of March.
