Tom Odell revealed that he wasn't allowed to keep hold of his Critics' Choice Award at this year's  BRIT Awards nominations launch and he won't see it again until the 20 February 2013 awards show.

Odell performed his hit song 'Another Love' at the launch and impressed the media crowd once again despite having some microphone difficulty which meant he couldn't be heard for part of the song.

The singer was awarded with the Critics' Choice award by last year's winner, Emeli Sande and couldn't believe his luck.

He said at the time: "It's crazy, I still can't believe it. I guess it's just amazing that people like the music - I put a lot of work into it and for people to like it, it's incredible."

Tom Odell didn't have his hands on the Critics' Choice award for long

However, Odell wasn't able to hold onto the Damien Hirst-designed award for more than an hour as it was taken away from him. He told Xfm: "I’m worried they’ll work me out and realise I’m not deserving of it."

It looks like Odell will have to wait another month before he can use the spotty prize as a bookend.

"I have a book shelf," he said. "I heard Florence + the Machine uses it as a toilet roll holder but I think that's slightly disrespectful. There are a number of things you could do with it."
