Britain's Got Talent auditions have only been going for a couple of weeks, but already the show is in controversy after a relative of Simon Cowell signing Labrinth passed his audition with ease.

Rapper 'MckNasty', real name Joshua McKenzie, impressed the judges at auditions this week, all of whom were fully aware of his connection to the chart topping star, who scored a No.1 single in 2012 with his Emeli Sande duet, 'Beneath Your Beautiful'.

Mcknasty has further connections that simply his sibling, having previously performed shows alongside Tinie Tempah, Lady Gaga, Wretch 32 and Devlin.

"It looked like someone had been pulling strings," says an unknown source, quoted by UnrealityTV. "Simon went to ask Joshua a question — he said, 'Do you have any... tell me something interesting about you.'

"It was as though Simon was going to ask if he had any famous relatives, that he already knew who he was.”

The youngster responded saying: "I’m always at the back and I want to be at the front. My brother is Labrinth, he is pretty cool.

"I like the fact that I have to chase him."

Show bosses state that MckNasty's success in his audition was due simply to his talent and not his family connections, saying: "To claim that he has been given any advantage is ridiculous and totally untrue... He wowed the audience and went through on his own merits."

Labrinth was one of the star performers on X Factor in 2013

Simon Cowell has spoken of his confidence in the future of reality TV shows, despite poor viewing figures for The X Factor in 2012.

Simon told BBC Newsbeat, "For bad shows it's dead, definitely. You've seen with something like the Olympics, when you put something good on, people watch it."

He also spoke about the low viewers of The X Factor, saying, "You've just got to try and make a better show than you did the year before. And if you do that there's a chance you can get the numbers up.

"I never go into anything thinking the numbers are going to go down, because the first thing I say to our production team is you've got to make a better show than last year."
