Adele is to make her live comeback at the 2013 Oscars ceremony, the first time she has performed live since the birth of her son, who is rumoured to be named Angelo.
The UK star had been rumoured for a performance at the show as part of a planned James Bond tribute, but now the star has confirmed she will sing live at the show next month.
"It's an honour to be nominated and terrifyingly wonderful to be singing in front of people who have captured my imagination over and over again. It's something I've never experienced and probably only ever will once," says a statement from the singer on record label XL's official website.
Expectations for her appearance are high, with producers of the show revealing their high hopes for a showstopping performance at the event.
"We have enormous respect for Adele's unique artistry as a songwriter and a singer," say Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. "She is currently one of the most successful recording artists in the world, and we believe that her performance of Skyfall will be an exciting Oscar moment for audiences watching at the Dolby Theatre and on television screens around the world."

Adele has already begun her annual sweep of the award season, picking up a Golden Globe for the track earlier in January.
The star won the award for Best Original Song at the annual awards. In her acceptance speech, Adele said, "Oh my god! Oh my god, oh my god! Honestly, I've come out for a night out with my friend Ida, we're new mums, we've literally come for a night out. I was not expecting to [win]. Thank you so much! My god!
"It's very strange to be here and thank you so much for letting me be part of your world for a night. It's amazing, we've been p**sing ourselves laughing at all of this."
